Maybe you’ve already taken our Photo Highlights Tour of Barcelona, and seen the classic sights? Or perhaps you just fancy something more chilled and laidback, and a chance to engage with a more authentic side of the city?
Our Off The Beaten Track afternoon bikes tours offer an antidote to mass tourism, as we set out to explore quieter corners of the city and pedal around hip local districts like El Born and Poblenou.
Poblenou is Barcelona’s most bike-friendly district, with its network of bike lanes, wide quiet streets and even a number of car-free zones. It’s also home to some of the Catalan capital’s best architecture such the iconic cucumber-shaped skyscraper, Torre Glories, as well as the futuristic Design Museum and Edifici MediaTIC building, amongst others.
Despite these modern additions to the barrio, Poblenou remains a remarkably local district with its own bustling rambla, scenic village squares, leafy parks and a mix of flea and food markets to visit.
Poblenou also has a swathe of golden beaches to visit, and a highlight of the tour will be cruising alongside the sands on your city or electric bike, and enjoying the Mediterranean breeze.
Depending on the time of year, we’ll also delve into the Old Town district of El Born, with its narrow medieval streets, awe-inspiring Gothic churches and lively terraces, full of locals snacking on tapas and sipping on cervezas.
Our guides will introduce you to some of the city secrets, dusty treasures, street art and hidden corners, before taking a refreshment break at a local market, tapas bar or chiringuito (beach bar).
Difficulty Easy. If you can ride a bike you can enjoy this tour, which avoids any major roads and sticks to chilled out cycling paths.
